We’ve carefully studied the vehicle extensively and spent over a year designing and producing this scaled-down model kit. After years of waiting for such a model, the Boom Racing Land Rover Series II 88 radio control car kit has finally arrived.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhat is the BRX02 88?\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis all-new BRX02 88 is a new class of performance-oriented scale trail truck. It is a short-wheelbase version of the BRX02 109. It shares many similar drivetrain components with the proven BRX01 and BRX02 platforms. It has the same leaf spring suspension setup as the BRX02 109. The BRX02 88, however, has its own identity, with many new parts explicitly designed to work in this smaller chassis.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMultiple updates were made to the BRX02 88 to fit the shorter 280mm wheelbase Series II 88 body. These updates include a direct heavy-duty steel driveshaft between the BCF2™ transmission and the B2X™ transfer case for improved drivetrain efficiency and a battery tray ready to be integrated with a full-size servo winch. Front suspension travel has been improved with an updated aluminum chassis rail.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEven though it is much smaller than the BRX02 109, don't expect anything less from us. The chassis layout of this BRX02 88 is well thought through from the ground up. We've designed this short-wheelbase chassis to include all of the most desired trail truck features, fitting a two-speed transmission, optional overdrive (by swapping t-case gears), 2WD\/4WD transfer case, or dig transfer case, an optional full-size internal servo winch with routing cable, an optional LED light kit, an optional rock light set, all with a full interior installed.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe BRX02 88 includes the narrow BRX80 Scale PHAT™ axles to give the truck the correct scale appearance. It has the B2X™ anti-torque twist aluminum transfer case that is identical to the original BRX02 transfer case but has the additional feature of being overdrive ready. A pair of 6mm aluminum frame rails for superior strength, chassis rigidity and predictable handling. A stainless steel ESC mounting plate next to the front motor replaces the carbon fiber at the rear end of the chassis of the BRX02.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo re-create the original Series II appearance, the body sits slightly lower with 80mm KUDU™ scale shock dampers, and the front and rear bumpers were changed to the Series II design. The front bumper includes space for a fairlead, and the rear bumper includes left and right-side crossmember grab handles. The front and rear skid plate sliders are designed with maximum ground clearance in mind and molded in nylon for added strength and to keep the CG lower.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOne of the main challenges in designing this scaled-down Series II was to keep the wheels tucked inside the body at all times while having good steering ability with a full leaf spring setup. This was achieved by using the BRX80 Scale PHAT™ axles, plus an all-new XT502PIN pin wheel hub that is narrower than the XT500 pin hub.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe other challenge was to figure out a way to relocate the steering servo. Series IIs had quite a significant recessed grill which interfered with the way the BRX02 Leaf chassis is set up. We designed a new servo mount and moved the servo under the motor, and by flipping the BCF2™ transmission motor mount upside down we created enough space for the servo and added a good amount of suspension travel.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe chassis is fitted with our new SLR™ 1.9” steelie beadlock wheels that come with scale wheel caps with a tool included for easy installation, as well as new scale screws that were specifically designed for these wheels, with a tool included. The wheels are paired with a set of Landy Classic™ 1.9” scale tires in Gekko™ Black (super soft) compound. The BRX80 Scale PHAT™ axles use our proprietary AR44 heavy-duty steel triangular keyed bevel helical cut 30\/8T diff gears, with the same but reversed cut gears in the rear axle to cancel out almost all of the torque twist from the drivetrain.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe leaf spring suspension with KUDU™ 80mm scale shocks gives a realistic ride height to the Series II. Optimized for scale performance, it features a billet aluminum cylinder body for durability, steel shock shaft with titanium nitride coating, plastic pivot retainers (replaceable) for smoother swivel movements, high degree pivot angle for high-angle articulation, double X-Ring oil seals, and comes with cylinder and friction seals to prevent leaks and contaminants from entering. The bump stop provides an additional level of bottoming control, stainless steel pivot balls for stainless, corrosion-resisting pivot rotation, and an aluminum pivot ball tool included for hassle-free maintenance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe leaf spring unit has a master leaf with three graduated leaves for suspension stability and adjustability. You may use up to four leaves for adjusting the rebound rate.
